2.1. Introduction to Herpetological Museum

中国科学院成都生物研究所两栖爬行动物标本馆（以下简称为标本馆）包括标本库、模式标本库、两栖爬行动物科普馆（以下简称为科普馆）等部分，总面积约1100 m²。标本馆由我国两栖爬行动物学主要奠基人刘承钊院士创建于1938年，1965年整体转移至研究所。

标本馆自始终以服务国内外广大的科学工作者、国家有关部门、社会大众等为己任，提供标本查询、标本鉴定、科学普及等服务，开展动物分类、动物进化、动物地理、生物多样性保护等科学研究，获得了国内外同行和国家有关部委的肯定和高度赞誉。自建馆以来，以标本馆为依托发表的科研论文达5000余篇、出版专著近百部，发表的两栖爬行动物新种达200余种。这些成果建立了我国两栖爬行动物的分类体系，促进了我国两栖爬行动物科学研究。其中，“中国两栖动物系统学研究”获2014年度国家自然科学二等奖。

目前标本馆馆藏标本12万余号，包括总物种数900余种，占我国已知两栖爬行类物种数量80%以上。标本采集地覆盖我国全部省、自治区、直辖市和特别行政区。此外，馆藏标本中还有来自国外的标本50余种400余号，包括美国、俄罗斯、菲律宾、老挝、马来西亚、缅甸、越南、泰国、南非共和国、巴西、土库曼斯坦、乌兹别克斯坦、吉尔吉斯斯坦、伊朗等国。标本的种类和数量居同领域全国第一位、亚洲第二位。

标本馆历任馆长（1998年之前为两栖爬行动物研究室主任）为胡淑琴研究员、赵尔宓院士、费梁研究员、王跃招研究员、李家堂研究员，现任馆长为王斌副研究员（青年研究员）。

The Herpetological Museum of the Chengdu Institute of Biology, CAS, is composed of the Herpetological Museum, Herpetological Exhibition, and the Museum of Botany, with a total area of 3700 m². The Herpetological Museum (abbreviated as the museum below) was officially established in 1965, but the earliest history can be traced back to the Herpetological Research Group established by Dr. LIU Ch’eng-Chao in West China Union University in 1938. It is the unique museum for herpetology in China. In 2008, the museum completed the transformation and passed the acceptance, and the herpetological exhibition also officially opened.

Since its establishment, the museum had offered capable views and services in specimen index, specimen identification, taxonomy, evolutionary biology, biogeography, and conservation, etc. These services provide assistance to native and international researchers, relevant governmental departments, and the public. The museum is also a responsible platform of herpetological research of the country, honored domestically and internationally by researchers and the relevant. Our service had always been like our duty.

The museum has also established a considerable amount of research, we focused on systematics, phylogenetics, biogeography, speciation, and other essential scientific hot spots, these researches had critically improved and supported the service abilities of the museum. Since its establishment, more than 5,000 research papers and near 100 monographs were published base on the herpetological collections, which established the framework and style of taxonomic research and the general view of Chinese herpetology. Among them, “The systematic study on amphibians of China” won the second prize of National Natural Science Prize in 2014.

Currently, the collection of the museum holds 854 species, of which 435 in amphibians and 419 in reptiles, with more than 110,000 specimens, accounting for more than 85% of the known reptile and amphibian species in China. The collection was collected from all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and special administrative regions of China. In addition, there are about 400 specimens representing 53 species collected from outside China, including the United States, Russia, the Philippine, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Republic of South Africa, Brazil, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, etc.

The previous curators (directors of Herpetological Research Group before 1998) of the museum were Prof. HU Shuqin, Prof. ZHAO Ermi, Prof. FEI Liang,  Prof. WANG Yuezhao, and Prof. LI Jiatang. The current curator is Wang Bin.

王斌，馆长/副研究员（WANG Bin, Curator / Associate Researcher）

全面负责标本馆工作。

主要研究领域为研究方向为两栖动物多样性进化与保护，已发表学术论文47篇，描述两栖动物新种38个。

Research interest: evolution and conservation of amphibians and reptiles. Published 47 papers, described 38 new species of amphibians.

李家堂，馆员/研究员（LI Jiatang, staff/ Researcher）

标本馆人员管理。主要研究领域为两栖爬行动物分子系统学、生物地理学与基因组学等。已发表学术论文41篇，发表两栖爬行动物新种6个、新属2个。

Be responsible for the work of the museum.

Research interest: molecular phylogenetics, biogeography and genomics of amphibians and reptiles. Published 41 papers, described 6 new species and 2 new genera of amphibians and reptiles.

吕可，馆员/助理研究员（LV Ke, Staff / Assistant Researcher）

负责标本整理、入库和标本馆库区日常维护、借阅标本人员的接洽等。主要研究领域为数据库运行与管理。

Be responsible for specimen sorting, storage, daily maintenance of specimen storeroom, specimen borrowing, etc.

Research interest: Database operation and management.

蔡波，馆员/工程师（CAI Bo, Staff / Engineer）

负责野外标本采集和分类学研究。

主要研究领域为爬行动物分类学。已发表学术论文13篇。

Be responsible for specimen collection and taxonomic research.

Research interest: Taxonomy of reptiles. Published 13 papers.

蒋珂，馆员/实验师（JIANG Ke, Staff / Experimentalist）

负责野外标本采集、标本鉴定与信息整理、分类学研究、科普工作规划等。主要研究领域为西南地区两栖爬行动物分类学，已发表学术论文71篇，发表两栖爬行动物新种31个、新属3个。

Be responsible for specimen collection, identification and sorting, taxonomic research and plan of popular science work.

Research interest: Taxonomy of amphibians and reptiles, especially on southwestern China. Published 71 paper, described 31 new species and 3 new genera of amphibians and reptiles.

姜德纯，副研究员（JIANG Dechun, Associate Researcher）

负责标本馆项目的日常管理。主要研究领域为生物地理学，已发表学术论文13篇，发表两栖爬行动物新属1个。

Be responsible for daily management of the project of museum.

Research interest: Biogeography. Published 13 papers, described 1 new genus of amphibians and reptiles.

严超超，特别研究助理（YAN Chaochao, Special Research Assistant）

负责网络数据资源开发和运行，以及数据共享服务的管理。主要研究领域为生物信息学和群体基因组学，已发表学术论文14篇。

Be responsible for the development and operation of network data resources and the management of data sharing services.

Research interest: Bioinformatics and population genomics. Published 14 papers.

郭峻峰，研究助理（GUO Junfeng, Research Assistant）

负责野外标本采集、动物饲养、协助开展科普馆工作，包括科普书籍和文章编写，科普产品开发等。已发表学术论文1篇，发表爬行动物新种1个。

负责分子数据挖掘与分析。主要研究领域为适应性进化。已发表学术论文2篇。

开展水游蛇科的分类学、系统发育与生物地理学研究、野外标本采集等。已发表学术论文15篇，发表两栖爬行动物新种4个、新属1个。
